Child Development
Development is the rapid growth and change a child naturally moves through as they transform from newborn into an adult.
So many systems and skills are involved: Self care, sensory processing, muscle tone, school readiness, fine motor, handwriting, anxiety and behaviour. Growing up is a busy thing!
At Kids That Go, our multidisciplinary team offers assessment based on your concerns and questions about your child’s progress. Assessment is necessary to pinpoint what is working well and what needs a boost. From there, we work with you to set goals, prioritise these goals and discuss the treatment process.
Treatment may be a mixture of in-clinic sessions, school visits, home visits, home practice activities, strategies for the classroom or Skype/phone calls. Whatever the mode, we aim to be practical, clear and goal-directed while making sure you feel supported with balancing any other appointments for your child too.
We also hold a weekly mothers’ group called Bub Hub on Thursday mornings during school term at our Paddington clinic. Our experienced Occupational Therapists are available to guide new parents with tools and strategies for infant development and therapist-approved baby play activities. Connect with other parents while also promoting your baby’s development, cognitive skills and learning. More information here.
